2016 Minnesota State Fair Guide: The Great Minnesota Get Together
Since I was old enough to remember the Minnesota State Fair was just something that meant the Summer was about to end, and school was soon to be back in session. Now that I’m a little bit older, and questionably smarter, I’ve continued to go to the State Fair because as a true Minnesotan, it’s my duty. A duty because of what you see, smell, feel, discover, un-discover quickly while it’s stuck to your shoe, and so on. Around 2 million people go to the fair during it’s two week span, so what I wanted to do is put together a guide to make sure you don’t miss anything while you’re there. So sit down, strap in and let’s begin.
Let’s move onto the food. Once you get there you’ll have to check out what’s new this year.
If you’re not there to eat go home, maybe you’ll want to check out all the attractions that are new this year.
Maybe you want to enter a contest or check out the people that did enter?
The Mighty Midway & Kidway is the spot to be if you want to win a giant Pikachu or ride a thrilling/scary ride.
So whether it’s your first time heading out to the fair, or you’ve been going since it started in 1859, (good job on being a time traveler or oldest person alive) you’re sure to find something that makes it all worth while. My personal guide would go a little something like this:
- wake up early
- take the bus
- drink a humungous lemonade
- eat all the cheese curds and new foods that you can
- wander up and look at machinery hill
- sit for one complete hour on a bench looking at people
- eat a bit more of something
- ride bus home
- figure out what’s actually stuck on your shoe
- despise that choice you made to eat one more thing during the day
- remember it by looking at all photos you took of your friends and family having a great time
- 2016 State Fair over
I’ll leave you with one last note. If you took at the foot long hotdogs that are consumed at the fair, guess how many miles that would stretch? 35 entire miles of foot long hotdogs. Holy Cow…
Also here is the list of FAQ’s for the fair. Enjoy!
